Holy Name Society
The Holly Name Society is devoted to ensuring the respect, the honor and holiness demanded by the name of our Lord. Male adults in good standing with the church are invited. The men attend Mass and receive Holy Communion as a group on the second Sunday of each month followed by their monthly meeting. Monthly dues support parish projects such as Communion breakfast, Men’s Night of Reconciliation and provide special gifts to support parish needs. They also sponsor the annual Bundle Drive for St. Vincent de Paul.
Women’s Faith Sharing Group
“How is God speaking to me? How can I respond?” are questions the Women’s Faith sharing group hopes to answer for you. They will meet two Saturday mornings a month beginning with the 9:00 AM mass and gather until 11:00 AM. Their discussion is based on “Living as a Confident Daughter of God: A Faith-Sharing Guide for Catholic Women”. All women are invited to attend.
For Married Couples and Parents
Baptism Preparation Leaders
Baptism preparation leaders must be married couples, practicing Catholics who are willing to open their homes for 1 hour about 3 or 4 times a year in order to prepare new parents for the sacrament of Baptism. Couples must have an understanding of the sacrament and be able to coordinate training based on their personal schedules. Training is provided.
The PTG provides parents and teachers an opportunity to work together to enhance the quality of education at Mon Yough Catholic School. All parents are invited to participate and become involved with their children’s educational programs. The group consists of board members that meet once a month during the school year and head the many committees that operate in the PTG. The general membership is made up of teachers and parents. Fundraising is a major component of the PTG and any willing and creative volunteers are needed to make it successful.
For All Men and Women
Bible Study Group
These men and women of the parish meet to foster reading the Bible, reflect on the Scripture, and discuss how the Word can be applied to everyday life. Led by Deacon Dale DiSanto, the group meets the first and third Tuesdays over 6 months of the year. All members and non-members of the parish are invited to attend.
Respect Life is dedicated to the goal of educating the community about issues which are becoming more prevalent such as abortion, euthanasia, cloning, death penalty, poverty, homelessness, racism, and the church’s position on these issues. The group meets for discussion and prayer the third Monday of the month from October to May. They provide information and displays during Respect Life month in October to further educate parishioners and will participate in prayer at abortion clinics in Pittsburgh twice a year.
A vocation council will be created to encourage vocations to religious life and to the priesthood. Stay tuned for details!
